CREPERIE- By Jack n’ Jill’s of Beverly Hills
Robert Benson, the executive chef/owner of the upcoming eatery CREPERIE by Jack n’ Jill’s of Beverly Hills, is an extraordinarily talented chef and restaurateur. Born in New Orleans, and raised in Louisiana and Southern California, he brings over twenty-five years of industry experience to his latest venture.
Prior to opening Jack n’ Jill’s of Beverly Hills in September 2004, Benson spent twenty years with the extremely successful Claim Jumper chain of restaurants at various locations in Southern California. While he began his stint with this upscale chain as a waiter – when he was 18 years old – he quickly progressed up the restaurant food chain. Benson has the distinction of being the company’s youngest manager – a position he attained at the age of 20. After serving as manager for seven years, he was promoted to the position of general manager at the age of 27. He went on to be promoted to supervisor of management training – a position he excelled in for five years – before he decided to venture out on his own.
Benson, who has a genuine love for food and for cooking, has always wanted to have his own restaurant. He grew up in the business – his first job was bussing tables for his mother’s catering company. His mom, Sherry (a former Miss Florida in 1961) was a talented chef who taught her son the basics of Southern cooking. Benson delights in putting his own definitive stamp on many traditional Southern recipes. He also believes that good food, served by friendly knowledgeable staffers, in a pleasant environment, is the perfect recipe for an attitude adjustment.
After realizing tremendous success with the first two Jack n’ Jill’s locations in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, CA, Benson sought to fulfill another vision- to add delicious, over-stuffed gourmet crepes to the menu when the doors open in early 2008 at his new location called CREPERIE by Jack n’ Jill’s of Beverly Hills on 3rd Street at Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles. Benson’s love for crepes revolves around the fact that they can be made with such a wide variety of ingredients and in so many ways that portray the creative side of a chef’s culinary talents. From conventional to simply brilliant, there is sure to be a crepe that appeals to your individual cravings.
